189/S-P: the Japanese Special Art is a promo

Kouki Saitou’s 189/S-P shows a gigantic Espeon resting above a town, with people and buildings providing the scale. The S-P number identifies it as a promo rather than an S6a booster-set slot.

It was supplied through the 2021 Eevee Heroes Eevee’s Set special product. Product origin is more precise than a generic Eevee Heroes SA listing title.

A five-printing VMAX map

Japanese and English releases create five principal Espeon VMAX printings. Language, full number and art separate them quickly.

The key mistake: S6a has Espeon V, not Espeon VMAX

Eevee Heroes S6a includes Espeon V at 035/069 RR, 080/069 SR and 081/069 Special Art. Espeon VMAX 189/S-P belongs to a separate special product.

V versus VMAX text, HP and denominator all differ. Add the complete number whenever searching for an Eevee Heroes Espeon.

Two English cards begin with 270—read the denominator

Evolving Skies 270/203 is the rainbow secret. Fusion Strike 270/264 is the rooftop alternate art. A listing that drops the denominator can describe the wrong card.

Fusion Strike and Japanese 189/S-P share the core illustration, but layout, language, number and release are different.

Condition: soft colours can conceal fine surface marks

Purple gradients, sky and building areas can hide fine lines in a flat front photo. Request angled light, corner and back images, then check centring, dents, edge wear and print lines.

Keep Japanese 189, English 270/264, rainbow 270/203 and SP4 in separate comparisons. Raw, graded, completed and asking-price records also answer different questions.
