Start with the card number
Mega Rayquaza is easy to misidentify because related artwork appears across different releases. Check the number, set code, language, rarity mark, surface texture and anniversary stamp in that order.
Roaring Skies supplied 76/108 and the 105/108 full art in 2015; Ancient Origins supplied the black shiny 98/98. Celebrations revisited an older design in 2021, while Japan’s 25th Anniversary Promo Pack used the separate 024/025 number.

Storm Emeralda places Mega Rayquaza ex at 058/076 in the main set, then extends it to 095/076 SR, 110/076 SAR and 113/076 MUR. Those four cards share a subject, not a value tier.
Release-week prices are shaped by thin supply and a small set of early transactions. The MUR and SAR repriced sharply during their second week, which is a reminder that a new-set quote is a snapshot rather than a settled value.

Raw, graded and asking prices are not interchangeable
A raw market price, a PSA 10 listing and an unsold asking price answer different questions. Older cards need close checks for edge whitening, surface wear, centering and back damage; modern textured cards can still carry print lines, dents or poor cuts.
Choose a language, printing and condition target before comparing recent sales. If grading is part of the plan, include grading cost, time and the risk that the card does not receive the expected grade.
